How To Create a Resilient Workplace in Time of Uncertainty?

Welcome to the thirteenth article in the series “Be the Leader You Aspire to Be” here on The Price of Business Show, where I will focus on the trends which lie ahead of us and how they will affect humans and businesses. The articles are based on my book Energetic Leadership, which talks about 9 trends leaders must navigate to cater for employees increasing demand for more spiritual leadership and sustainable business models aligned with their life purposes. These articles are about business leadership in the new era. I hope you will find inspiration for your own leadership and the leader you aspire to be.

The first article outlined 9 trends for business leadership and focused on authentic curiosity as a key competency for leaders to master. The second and third explained the concept of energy frequencies as the source of our true potential, followed by the alignment of the company purpose with the life purposes of employees and customers. The fourth covered the 6-5 different generations currently working, the fifth focused on self-care and the ability to be present and the sixth about uncertainty and how to navigate in it.

The seventh talked about the importance of intuition in decision-making and the eighth, nineth and tenth articles were about what a healthy economy and society are and how we all can improve democracy. In the eleventh article we looked at customer journeys built on healthy energy and the last article was about productivity improved with the help of intuition.

In the thirteenth article I look at leadership from a place of being resilient. What is it and more importantly how are you resilient and make a whole organization resilient too.

The definition of resilience is for a person to be able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions. For an object, it is to be able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed – like an innersole after you have taken off your shoe. In the definition lies that we are “able to endure strain without being permanently injured,” resilient implies the ability to recover shape quickly when the deforming force or pressure is removed.

It sounds simple when we are talking about an innersole which has no feelings and is just a thing. But it becomes more complexed when it is about people and a workplace. Nevertheless, this is what we need to learn, relearn and practice to stand in the heavy wind of uncertainty.

In my book Energetic Leadership, I refer to 9 future trends which define where we are heading. One of the megatrends is From Industrial to Planetary – that the era of Industrialization is being exchanged by a new and more holistic era. Until now the focus has been on the outer world now, we must focus on our inner world too. We need that focus because the speed of the technological development with AI comes with a tremendous force which gives us probably 10 years to be ready for true AI.

Humans have always been better at looking after others than themselves, so we are all struggling to change. We are not used to doing it and it often comes with lots of discomfort and very little prestige to say the least. We have made it a thought after skill to be thinking heads not sensing bodies. Despite our high level of education we have in many ways become less intelligent – we have forgotten our gift as Albert Einstein put it and made us slaves or servants.

Resilience is not about avoiding challenges but about building the capacity to adapt, recover, and innovate. Here is how we get back on track with resilience becoming a core organizational trait.

Create a culture build on trust and psychological safety. Resilience starts with trust. Your trust in you and others. In uncertain times, employees look to their leaders for stability and reassurance. Brave leaders must cultivate psychological safety—where employees feel secure expressing their ideas, concerns, and uncertainties without fear of judgment or retaliation.

Be curious so you behave agile and can adapt both as an individual and organization. Resilient workplaces embrace change instead of resisting it. This means rethinking strategies, encouraging intuition, innovation, and continuously learning from setbacks.

Lead by example, it all starts with you, and it inspires others as we all want to be seen, met, heard and understood. You have the power to truly change everything from within. I call it Energetic Leadership, lead your own energy.
