How Energetic Leadership Is the New Way of Change Management

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome to the eighteenth article in the series “Be the Leader You Aspire to Be” here on The Price of Business Show, where I will focus on the trends which lie ahead of us and how they will affect humans and businesses. The articles are based on my book Energetic Leadership, which talks about 9 trends leaders must navigate to cater for employees increasing demand for more spiritual leadership and sustainable business models aligned with their life purposes. These articles are about business leadership in the new era. I hope you will find inspiration for your own leadership and the leader you aspire to be.

The first article outlined 9 trends for business leadership and focused on authentic curiosity as a key competency for leaders to master. The second and third explained the concept of energy frequencies as the source of our true potential, followed by the alignment of the company’s purpose with the life purposes of employees and customers.

The fourth covered the 6-5 different generations currently working, the fifth focused on self-care and the ability to be present and the sixth was about uncertainty and how to navigate in it. The seventh article talked about the importance of intuition in decision-making and the eighth, nineth and tenth articles were about what a healthy economy and society are and how we all can improve democracy.

In the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth articles we looked at customer journeys built on healthy energy and how intuition and resilience can improve productivity. The fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth articles were about the world as a mirror of how we are doing and the multidimensional human taking over and what we do with true AI with the seventeenth looking at authenticity in leadership.

In the eighteenth article I look at Change Management as it has changed a lot while you are busy doing your job and living your life. But what is Change Management. According to Google, “Change management is a discipline that focuses on managing change in an organization.

Change Management involves implementing approaches to prepare and support individuals, teams, and leaders in making organizational changes.” It is a good generic definition. It does not say anything about what approaches to be used. So, what happens when modern life design changes and it collides with old leadership habits and you keep using the old approaches, then you get either the wrong result or no result i.e. people start leaving the workplace or leaving it mentally by quiet quitting. Customers cannot see themselves in the identity of the brand and shift to another one which is more appealing.

What happened to Change Management over the last 5 years. We went.

  • From project-centric to continuous change – from the big project/program to day-to-day change.
  • From people-centric to empathetic – just an FTE to a whole human being
  • From in person to tech-enabled change – we do a lot more training on our own
  • From remote to hybrid work integration – we want to work in multiple ways
  • From limited to real-time data-driven insights – data is instant and so are humans
  • From waterfall method to agile method – strategy eats culture to culture is strategy
  • From change management in silos to integration of silos and disciplines in CM

We have seen a big shift to a much more holistic approach which very often takes place within the old and rigid operating models that have become even more complex with all the ESG measures we see in Europe and globally. Nothing is wrong with focusing on ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) if measuring and reporting are not slowing down innovation and decision making.

It is like we have experienced the first part of a shift of Change Management, and we are waiting for the last 2 parts to happen.

  1. That we widen our consciousness, so we understand that we are so much more than just physical and mental beings. We are spiritual beings having physical and mental experiences.
  2. That we create operating & business models and change management which has 2 timelines – the old Gregorian timeline/calendar and the more intuitive and energetic timeline which follow the flow of energy within a human or an organization.

When we manage to change our business set-up by integrating both a masculine and rational timeline with a human and energetic timeline then we have created something unique for humankind, businesses and societies in the new era.

I call it Energetic Leadership, that we lead our energy, people and businesses in a healthy way.
