How Can Business Productivity Be Improved by Intuition?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome to the twelfth article in the series “Be the Leader You Aspire to Be” here on The Price of Business Show, where I will focus on the trends which lie ahead of us and how they will affect humans and businesses. The articles are based on my book Energetic Leadership, which talks about 9 trends leaders must navigate to cater for employees increasing demand for more spiritual leadership and sustainable business models aligned with their life purposes. These articles are about business leadership in the new era. I hope you will find inspiration for your own leadership and the leader you aspire to be.

The first article outlined 9 trends for business leadership and focused on authentic curiosity as a key competency for leaders to master. The second and third explained the concept of energy frequencies as the source of our true potential, followed by the alignment of the company purpose with the life purposes of employees and customers. The fourth covered the 6-5 different generations currently working, the fifth focused on self-care and the ability to be present and the sixth about uncertainty and how to navigate in it. The seventh talked about the importance of intuition in decision-making and the eighth, nineth and tenth articles were about what a healthy economy and society are and how we all can improve democracy. In the eleventh article we looked at customer journeys being built on healthy energy.

In the twelfth article I look at productivity in combination with intuition. For many a new perspective not old but maybe forgotten. How can our intuition leverage our productivity?

For the last many decades productivity has been key, and it still is important to be effective in how we use our time, money and resources as leaders of organizations. But we have got to a point where we are pushing ourselves and the organizations too hard meaning that we do not use the resources we have optimally, and we do not get the optimal results. This can be seen in the low levels of engagement, the high levels of stress and illnesses. The general well-being of people is not good, and it affects productivity.

We still work and act the old way from our thinking brain and are not using our intuition. We think, we can figure it all out by thinking and looking in our data. But we cannot – and we get even more stressed trying to push us and the organization as it is expected to be fast and effective in everything we do. We have built a set-up that is not effective and healthy anymore.

We need to do something differently. The good thing is that the help is right inside of us and does not cost other investments than our time which of cause is precious.

What is intuition? Intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge, without recourse to conscious reasoning or needing an explanation. It is when we get our input from our subconsciousness. To activate our intuition not just our gut feeling but our intuition which is more profound, we need to have a calm nervous system. So, we need to be calm.

The first thing the management can do is to be curious and open for new input and ways of doing things. By doing that the awareness will increase. It can be done by listening actively to others and to themselves – it establishes the connection.

The second thing is to create the “room” both in the management team and the organization that it is safe to show up differently meaning allowing vulnerability and a safe space to utter one’s opinion – it creates psychological safety.

The third thing is to start having focus on personal development – not just technical and practical in relation to the job but allowing time to develop new habits to prevent stress and pressure is important especially within the organization, its processes and the way the company is being led. It has to do with the culture that is hopefully built on values and a purpose.

Are you as a leader able to do the 3 things you will activate a superpower that will ignite the employees and the organizations and give you a vital and long-lasting competitive advantage which is difficult to copy as it is built from your core (soul).

I call it Energetic Leadership when we combine knowledge and wisdom. I hope you got some new insight on how to activate intuition as a superpower for improving productivity.
