Welcome to the thirty-eighth article in the series “Be the Leader You Aspire to Be” here on The Price of Business Show, where I will focus on the trends which lie ahead of us and how they will affect humans and businesses. The articles are based on my book Energetic Leadership, which talks about 9 trends leaders must navigate to cater for employees increasing demand for more spiritual leadership and sustainable business models aligned with their life purposes. These articles are about business leadership in the new era. I hope you will find inspiration for the leader you aspire to be.
In this article I look at why reconnecting commercial sense with energetic leadership is no longer optional, it’s survival.
The numbers don’t lie. Despite decades of innovation frameworks, agile methodologies, and mountains of data, absenteeism continues to rise, employee loyalty plummets, and customer retention grows increasingly elusive. Why? Because we’ve been solving 21st-century problems with 20th-century consciousness.
The fundamental issue plaguing modern business isn’t a lack of strategy or technology, it’s the pronounced decoupling of commercial sense from human energetic sense. For too long, we’ve measured human capacity in hours rather than recognizing that the quality of time depends entirely on our ability to fulfill deep inner needs and tap into our true potential.
The Three-Level Alignment Framework
Alignment in an energetic world requires simultaneous work across three critical dimensions, as outlined in my groundbreaking book ‘Energetic Leadership’.
First, organizational alignment. This means developing future-sense as a core competency embedded in company culture and management style. It’s no longer sufficient to have sustainability on paper or values posted on walls. Today’s employees and customers can sense energetically when narrative doesn’t match reality. They demand coherence between what you say and what you do, transparency in how you treat people and planet, and authentic purpose beyond profit.
Second, personal leadership alignment. Leaders must practice self-leadership in harmony with their inner selves. This requires mastering what I call the “energetic compass” the ability to read your own sensations, trust your intuition, and act from life purpose rather than ego, bonus, or prestige. When leaders operate from balanced energy rather than depleted willpower, they make better decisions and model the behavior that transforms culture.
Third, team leadership alignment. This involves training and practicing energetic competencies in leading others, creating psychological safety, recognizing that relationships are the new competitive parameter, and understanding that execution requires not just process flow but energy flow.
Why Strategy Alone Fails
Traditional strategic planning assumes a stable, controllable environment. But as COVID-19 demonstrated, change is the only constant. The future demands adaptive leadership that softens fixed plans and embraces intuitive foresight alongside analytical rigor.
Consider strategy through an energetic lens: Does your strategy treat the planet as a shareholder? Is dualism the balance of feminine and masculine energy at its center? Are partnerships based on authentic connection rather than transactional benefit? These questions might seem unconventional, but they’re precisely what determines which organizations survive the paradigm shift currently underway.
The same applies to execution. When you focus solely on content and schedules while ignoring the human factor and energy dynamics, execution becomes exhausting rather than energizing. Organizations that understand execution with content, process, and energy mindset making room for intuition and creativity discover that efficiency and joy can coexist.
From Hours to Energy
Perhaps the most radical shift required is reimagining how we view human capacity. The research shows that companies working with energy consciousness, those who’ve reduced work hours, flattened structures, prioritized self-care, and aligned individual life purpose with organizational purpose see remarkable results: easier customer attraction and retention, lower absenteeism, reduced medication consumption, and improvement across all bottom lines.
These aren’t soft benefits. They’re hard competitive advantages in a world where the most important competence of the future is mastery of energetic language, intuition, and the ability to create coherence between personal and organizational purpose.
The Path Forward
We cannot solve our current challenges with the thinking that created them. Einstein knew this. The question is: do we have the courage to rediscover what we’ve forgotten that we are energy beings operating in an energetic world, and that our first language, the language of energy, holds the key to unlocking unprecedented potential?
The future isn’t coming. It’s here. And its demanding leadership that honors intuition as the sacred gift and uses rational mind as the faithful servant not the other way around.
The roadmap exists in my book Energetic Leadership, a comprehensive guide for brave leaders.
