How Successful Leadership Use Strategic Foresight and Intuition

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome to the twenty fifth article in the series “Be the Leader You Aspire to Be” here on The Price of Business Show, where I will focus on the trends which lie ahead of us and how they will affect humans and businesses. The articles are based on my book Energetic Leadership, which talks about 9 trends leaders must navigate to cater for employees increasing demand for more spiritual leadership and sustainable business models aligned with their life purposes. These articles are about business leadership in the new era. I hope you will find inspiration for your own leadership and the leader you aspire to be.

The last articles have outlined 9 trends for business leadership and focused on authentic curiosity as a key competency for leaders to master. They have explained the concept of energy frequencies as the source of our true potential, followed by the alignment of the company’s purpose with the life purposes of employees and customers.

They have covered the 6-5 different generations currently working, focused on self-care and the ability to be present and what uncertainty was about and how to navigate in it. They have talked about the importance of intuition in decision-making and what a healthy economy and society are and how we all can improve democracy.

The articles have looked at customer journeys built on healthy energy and how intuition and resilience can improve productivity. They have been about the world as a mirror of how we are doing as multi-dimensional humans and what we do with true AI. And they have been about the change of Change Management both in terms of timelines and content and the urgent need for a new Leadership Playbook which is about people first and foremost based on curiosity, consciousness and freedom.

In this article I look at what we, as leaders, can do in our leadership when we feel the world is upside down.

There is a lot you can do, and you can do right now.

You can start by finding your curiosity like if you are going on a holiday. We are going to see out the window what the horizon of the future holds for us:

I want you to choose 3 of these 9 future trends. A trend is a movement from one situation to another.

  1. From industrial to planetary
  2. More to better
  3. Conformist to rebel
  4. Retirement to breaks
  5. From closed hierarchy to open communi-teams
  6. From dominance to dualism
  7. From one to three bottom lines (ESG)
  8. From external to internal sustainability (first)
  9. Automatic to AI-magical

Please explain why you choose these 3 trends. Write down your explanation and look at your words for as long as you need. What do they tell you about your own life and working life? Do you need to prioritize in a different way?

The trends you can find described in depth in my book Energetic Leadership – “when modern life design collides with old leadership habits, it is time to tap into intuition and unleash our energetic sense of the future”.

Understanding the future ahead of us is crucial so we need to be curious, as the trends have consequences for what skills we as humans and employees need to practice. Maybe it is AI-competences, but it could also be to be more self-aware.

This is what strategic foresight is about – to see up and out the window.

This was one thing you can do right now.

The other thing you can do right now is to become more self-aware.

How do you do that?

One thing we have been very good at humans is to gain rational logical knowledge and we treasure that. But we have forgotten a vital part to really leverage all the rational and logical knowledge and that is to combine it with our wisdom of all our senses. Unfortunately, we have caved those senses with our silence and ignorance. We cannot sense our body, mind and soul. We are too stressed and unhealthy.

We need to quiet our nervous system. You can do that in many ways.

Do something your soul enjoys not just your ego (brain – thoughts). Maybe it is:

  1. To be still
  2. To sleep
  3. Go for a walk
  4. To give a cuddle
  5. Go for a swim
  6. Talk to a friend

When we look after ourselves, we calm our nervous system and begin to relax. We become more conscious and open our intuition.

Enjoy Energetic Leadership!
